Conway, S.C. - The Owls scored eight runs in the middle three innings to support the complete-game effort of Missy Hobdy as Kennesaw State defeated Appalachian State, 8-1, on Sunday morning.
The Owls (25-10) trailed 1-0 after the third inning before taking a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kennesaw State blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jennifer Nolan hit a grand slam home run, her sixth of the season, giving the black and gold a five-run advantage.
Nolan had two hits in the game and drove in five runs while Keri McKee, who got her 300th hit on Saturday night, had her second consecutive three-for-three effort.
Hobdy scattered eight hits over seven innings and struck out seven batters as the left-hander raised her record to 7-2 on the season.
Kennesaw State will play host Coastal Carolina in the Owls final game of the two-day, four-game event.
