KENNESAW, Ga. - Despite being down 10 points with 15 minutes to go, the Kennesaw State women's basketball rallied to claim a 64-58 victory over Campbell on Thursday night at the KSU Convocation Center.

Campbell (5-17, 3-9 A-Sun) opened the second half on a 15-4 run grabbing a 45-35 lead with 15:40 to play in the game. After the teams traded buckets, Montinique Nixon converted a lay-up and Stephanie Scerace hit two free throws to start Kennesaw State (9-13, 5-7 A-Sun) on a 23-8 run over the next six minutes to take a 58-53 lead with 6:47 left to play.

The Lady Camels put together a 5-0 run of their own after two Marlena Murphy lay-ups and a free throw from Letitia Dickson to tie the game at 58-58 with 4:20 left, but the Lady Owls tough defense, which held Campbell to 0-of-7 shooting down the stretch, and key baskets from Scearce and Nixon propelled KSU to the six-point victory.

After the game started out slowly with neither team holding more than a six-point lead, the teams found themselves tied at 8-8 when Dickson converted a lay-up with 14:52 to go in the first half. But then the KSU offense poured it on as they were spurred to a 16-0 run after a DeAndrea Bullock thee-pointer and back-to-back lay-ups from Rosetta Hollis and Scearce.

Campbell fought back, however, and ended the first half on a 22-5 run after falling behind by as many 16 points. Scearce's layup at the 9:45 mark gave the Owls a 24-8 lead at the 9:45. Adrienne Rieley scored Campbell's next nine points over a four minute period pulling the Lady Camels within seven points at 24-17 with 4:52 to play.

Scearce led the Lady Owls with 15 points and was one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season with nine rebounds. Hollis added 11 points off the bench and Nixon tied a career-high with 13 rebounds.

Rieley paced Campbell with a career-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Murphy and Taylor Oliver each added 11 points for the Lady Camels.

The Lady Owls continue their homestand on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs to the KSU Convocation Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
