Owls Drop Fifth Straight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Owls losing streak moved to five as Kennesaw State fell to UNC Charlotte, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex.

The 49ers (3-1), winners of three consecutive matches, easily won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.

At No. 1, Charlotte's Ana Spivakovsky and Ali Piacente defeated Giselle Nakakura and Mercedes Cobos, 8-1. Kathy Robey and Yana Stoeva had little problem downing Karen Ammann and Caroline Page at No. 2 doubles, winning, 8-3. The No. 3 flight saw Michelle Alexander and Koren Fleming defeating Kennesaw State's Lindsey Whalen and Jeni Thomas, 8-3.

The Owls lost in straight sets in all six singles matches with only Ammann, Page and Nakakura competitive in any one set.

Spivakovsky defeated Cobos ay no. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 while Ammann fell in straight sets No. 2, 7-5, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Charlotte's Robey defeated Nakakura, 6-4, 6-0.

The bottom of the lineup had Fleming beating Thomas, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 5 singles Stoeva defeated Page, 6-4, 6-1 and at No. 6, Alexander upended Whalen, 6-1, 6-0.
