Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga.--The Lady Owls could not recover from a nine-minute scoreless drought to start the game, as Kennesaw State fell to Austin Peay State by a 67-55 score on Saturday afternoon at the KSU Convocation Center.

The Lady Owls fell behind 17-0 to start the game, going 0-for-14 from the field in the process. But after Montinique Nixon's lay-up at the 10:32 mark broke the ice, KSU went on a 16-2 run to pull within three, 19-16.

Three points would be as close as the Lady Owls would get, as the Lady Governors went on a 10-0 run to extend the lead back to 13 at 29-16. KSU showed some fight late in the first half, as Nixon scored the last of her nine first-half points with a lay-in, and Gia Lockett converted a three-point play to make the halftime score 33-27.

The Lady Owls would pull within five points of Austin Peay three times in the second half; however, every time KSU would throw down the gauntlet, the Lady Govs answered the bell. Jennifer Baker's only three-pointer of the game made the score 43-38 with 12:33 to go, but a three on the other end by the Lady Govs extended the lead back to eight. Four minutes later, a lay-up by DeAndrea Bullock cut the deficit back to five. Austin Peay State responded by tallying the next four points, extending the lead to nine, 51-42, and putting the game out of reach of the Lady Owls.

Four players scored in double-figures for the Lady Owls, led by Bullock's 13. Nixon and Baker each had 12, while Greteya Kelley added 11.

Amber Bacon scored 16 points off the bench to pace the Lady Govs. The visitors hit on 24-of-44 shots from the field for a 54.5 percent clip, while KSU went 20-of-57 (35.1 percent).

KSU will be off for 11 days before returning to the court against the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. Game time on December 12 is set for 4:30 p.m.
