Lindsey Plotner closed her career with a match-high 15 kills as the Kennesaw State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-26, 30-20, 30-15) decision to USC Upstate on Saturday evening in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Owls were competitive in game one, but unlike the day before when KSU went from a 26-26 tie to a 30-26 win in a game, it was Upstate that went on the 4-0 run to take the first game. From there, it was all Spartans, as the home team hit for a .316 percentage in game two and a .346 percentage in game three to secure the sweep.
KSU's final kill of the match came off of a Plotner swing. The senior averaged five kills per game in the match, finishing the season with a team-leading 225 kills. With eight kills on the day, Sabrita Gulley tallied 213 for her season, while Jenny Black fell just short of reaching 200 kills and 200 digs, totaling 196 kills and 191 digs for 2007.
Libero Selina O'Leary finished 2007 as KSU's leader in digs, posting a total of 241. Her 2.62 digs per game average marks an improvement over last season's 2.28 digs per game.
The Owls close the season with a record of 4-24 overall, improving on 2006's win total by three. After being swept in every Atlantic Sun Conference match last season, the Owls went 2-9 in 2007, winning 10 games in the process.
