Box Score
KENNESAW, Ga.--Sabrita Gulley had eight kills, but Atlantic Sun Conference leading Florida Gulf Coast attacked at a .359 percentage for the match in defeating Kennesaw State 3-0 (30-15, 30-12, 30-16) on Friday night at the KSU Convocation Center.
Big spurts by FGCU led to their big wins in each game over the owls. KSU trailed 9-7 in the first game before a 21-8 run by the Eagles gave the visitors a 30-15 win. In game two, the Eagles scored 14 of the first 20 points en route to the 30-12 victory.
The final game was slightly different, as KSU took the early lead. A kill by Eman Burns and a service ace for Selina O'Leary staked the Owls to a 2-0 advantage to start the frame. FGCU scored the next three points, but the Owls tied the score again thanks to a service error by the Eagles. That would be as close as KSU would get, as the Owls were outscored 16-7 as FGCU opened a 19-10 lead.
FGCU finished the match on a 6-0 run to win the third game 30-16 and the match 3-0.
Senior Lindsey Plotner had seven digs, five kills, and a solo block in her pentultimate match at the KSU Convocation Center. Plotner was even with Jenny Black for team-high honors in digs with seven.
