Santa Clara Invitational Final Results

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The men's golf team moved up the leaderboard in the final round of competition for the third straight time, surging to a top 10 finish on the momentum of a solid team performance Tuesday at the Santa Clara Invitational. The Owls (309-295-292-896) improved their scores daily, moving up three spots from 13th to 10th in the final round.
Kennesaw State's push over the final 18 holes was led by Christopher Hamm's (79-71-70-220) two-under par 70. The freshman, who was playing in just his third collegiate tournament, carded his collegiate low round for the second time in the event, besting his second round 71 by a stroke. He also posted his first top 25 finish after tying for 21st with teammate Michael Tulacz.
Tulacz (74-71-75-220) struggled to get things going on Tuesday, but still managed to post his fourth top 25 finish of the season. The junior from New York is the Owls highest ranked player, coming in at No. 26 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll and No. 30 in the Golfstat.com poll.
Wesley Sheard (74-77-74) also earned his top individual finish if the season, finishing in a tie for 39th at 225. Chris Johnson (82-77-73) improved his total in every round, topped by a final round 73 to finish at 232 and a tie for 59th. Alex Jones (84-76-80) contributed to the team's second round improvement with his 76, but couldn't hold on to the momentum, firing an 80 Tuesday to finish at 240 and in 73rd.
Portland (283-290-285-858) took advantage of Oklahoma's final round struggles to claim the team title while Nick Delio (69-67-67-203) of CSU-Northridge led wire to wire to claim the individual crown.
The Owls will have nearly two weeks off to recover from their trip out west before traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss. for the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate and the final tournament of their fall schedule. The tournament, hosted by Southern Mississippi Unviersity, will be held on November 5-6 at the Canebreak Country Club.
