Lipscomb Rumbles Over Owls

Jenny Black and Lindsey Plotner each had seven kills, but a back-row defensive battle went the way of Lipscomb in a 3-0 (30-16, 30-18, 30-23) win over Kennesaw State on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.

Battling one of the top teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference, KSU (4-20, 2-6 A-Sun) managed 54 digs in the match, with Asjia Stokes leading the way with 14. Owls libero Selina O'Leary had 11 digs, while Plotner earned 10 digs for visiting KSU.

Lipscomb (14-9, 6-2 A-Sun) was able to top KSU on the back-row with 64 digs of their own, led by Ann Mullins with a match-high 23.

The Bisons had 47 kills, compared to just 24 for the Owls. The teams were nearly even in total attacks (119-118), but Lipscomb converted for a .286 attack percentage while KSU had a -.025 effort. Sarah Stein led Lipscomb with 14 kills.

Kennesaw State will return to the KSU Convocation Center this Friday, when it plays host Florida Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. The Owls will battle Stetson on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the final home match of the 2007 season.
