KENNESAW, Ga. - Shuan Stegall delivered a double-double and Ronell Wooten scored a game-high 17 points to lead Kennesaw State to a 77-57 drubbing of North Florida on Monday afternoon.
The Owls (8-12, 4-4 A-Sun) quickly broke open a four-point halftime lead as they built their advantage to 11 points with 13:09 left in the game when Stegall (5-for-8) hit a pair of free-throws.
Golden Ingle led a dominating defensive effort. The Owls senior point guard, who in addition to controlling an offense which committed just eight turnovers, had three steals. KSU forced North Florida (2-15, 0-7 A-Sun) into 17 miscues.
Kennesaw State would increase its lead steadily throughout the second half, taking its largest lead at 22-points when Zach Berry (3-for-3) made a layup with 4:58 left to play. KSU trailed only four times in the game and never after the 9:25 mark of the first half.
Brent Ragsdale (5-for-11) scored 13 points for the Owls while Golden Ingle (4-for-10) added 11 points and dished off four assists. James Grimball (7-for-12) scored 17-points to lead North Florida while Aaron Caruthers (5-for-13) scored 14 points.
The Owls shot 48 percent from the field and once again had a dominant effort on the boards. Kennesaw State out-rebounded UNF 34-25 and held a 16-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Owls will be back in action on Friday night as they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to East Tennessee State for a Friday evening contest.
