BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner Webb snapped a 24-match conference losing streak as the Bulldogs downed Kennesaw State 3-0 (30-15, 30-17, 31-29) on Saturday afternoon at Paul Porter Arena.

With the win GWU improves to 8-11 and 1-1 in the Atlantic Sun, while the Owls fall to 1-14 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Bulldogs jumped on KSU early as they won 10 of the first 12 points. A kill by Asjia Stokes stopped the bleeding momentarily, but Gardner-Webb rattled off the next six points to take control of the first game. GWU finished the first game with an outstanding .571 attack percentage, while the Owls could only muster .040.

Kennesaw State attacked better in the second game, securing a .111 percentage. The Owls hung with the Bulldogs and were within three at 9-6 after a kill by Jasmine Ruiz. Gardner-Webb would finish the second game on a 7-3 run, however, to take a 2-0 lead.

Game three was a back-and-forth affair, with KSU looking to take its first game with a 28-27 lead. A service error by Ashley Landers tied the game at 28 apiece, and the teams next traded attack errors to tie the score at 29.

GWU's Audra Harrison would record a kill to give the Bulldogs a 30-29 lead, before Lindsey Plotner's attempt to tie the game was blocked by Jessica Clayton to secure the sweep.

The Owls will next be in action when they return to the friendly confines of the KSU Convocation Center to host North Florida on October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
