KENNESAW, Ga. - The Owls used a pair of second half goals by Caitlin Dingle to put away Jacksonville, 3-1, on Thursday night at the KSU Soccer Complex before a crowd of over 700 fans.

"It was a terrific performance tonight," said head coach Rob King. "Our young players stepped up, especially our defense playing without Becks [Rebecca Hall]. I am quite pleased, it was a solid team effort all the way around."

In the 70th minute Dingle scored her first goal of the night when she gathered a loose ball, which had been deflected off a Maylee Attin-Johnson, pass. The Owls newcomer then fired a shot to the lower right corner beating a diving Michelle Kmiotek.

Dingle scored again in the 77th minute when she took a pass from Laura Tucker inside the 18-yard box and placed the ball lower left to seal the win. With the two-goal performance, Dingle took over the lead in goals with four this season.

Tucker got things started for the Owls (6-1-2) when she scored her third goal of the season in the 25th minute on assists from Sara Clapham and Bridgett Gaughan. Clapham took a pass from Gaughan who split two defenders with a through ball. Tucker gathered the pass and after two touches ripped a shot to the right corner for a 1-0 lead.

"We played more consistently tonight than we had in the past few games," said Rob King. "Throughout the match we received strong performances from everyone."

Jacksonville (5-5-0) tied the match just before halftime when Keri Zwikker scored her third goal of the season taking a nearly half field pass from Jenny Borschel and beating the KSU defense before putting a shot past Staci Pugh in the 41st minute.

The breakdown was the only lapse the Owls had the entire evening as KSU dominated the Dolphins for nearly the entire ninety minutes. Playing especially well was the KSU defense, playing without starter Rebecca Hall.

The Owls domination was thorough as they out shot Jacksonville, 33-12 and had twice the number of corner kicks.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they play host to rival North Florida at 2:00 p.m.
