INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jasmine Ruiz had a match-high three blocks, but Kennesaw State lost to Army, 3-0 (30-11, 30-24, 30-13) at the Bulldog Bash hosted by Butler University.
Army (6-0) received 13 kills from Danielle Cooper and Rachael Breinling added 11 to help the Black Knights to their best start in 19 years. Aaryn Phillips had five kills for the Owls (0-5) who are looking for their first win of the year.
Tara Dillon had a team-high 17 assists for Kennesaw State while Selina O'Leary had nine digs to lead KSU. The Owls did have four players post solo blocks with Ruiz having a pair. Lindsey Plotner and Asjia Stokes each had one.
Army picked up 15 kills on 31 attempts for a .387 hitting percentage in the final game and had a .357 hitting percentage in the opening game.
Kennesaw State is back in action next weekend when they travel to Baltimore, Maryland to play in the Chesapeake Challenge. Kennesaw State opens with host Loyola (Md.) on Friday before playing North Carolina A&T. The Owls play St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday morning.
