Owls Win First Game, Lose Third Match

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Owls won their first game in the history of the program on Friday afternoon, but Kennesaw State is still looking for their first victory of the season as Evansville defeated KSU, 3-1 (26-30, 30-14, 30-13, 30-17), at the Bulldog Bash hosted by Butler University at the Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Ashley Lander led Kennesaw State (0-3) with 12 kills. Jenny Black was also in double-figures with 10 kills. Evansville (3-2) had three players with double-figures in kills including Megan Spurlock with a match-high 15 kills. Tara Dillon had 30 assists in the match and also added 10 digs and one block.

The Owls held the Aces to an attack percentage under .200 in the opening game of the match as they hit .195. KSU had an attack percentage of .222 in the first game.

For the first time this season Kennesaw State was out-blocked in a match as Evansville held a 6-4 advantage. Lindsey Plotner led Kennesaw State with 1.5 blocks.

Kennesaw State will battle host Butler in the second match on Friday. The Owls will conclude the two-day event with a match against Army on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
