Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. - In front of a small, but enthusiastic crowd at the KSU Convocation Center Kennesaw State rode a 27-point effort by Shuan Stegall as they defeated Newberry College, 68-55, on Tuesday evening.

On a night when Kennesaw State head coach Tony Ingle won his 200th collegiate game, the Owls (2-4) jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead before the Indians could make a shot.

The Indians (1-4) scored their first basket at the 16:48 mark and then hit back-to-back three-pointers and went on a brief 9-2 run to take a lead 10-9 at the 12:40 mark.

It was then that Stegall (11-for-20) lifted the Owls with a 13-point and four-rebound first half performance. The junior finished the night with his third double-double of the season, a 27-point and 13 rebounds effort.

After a back-and-forth first half, Ronell Wooten (6-for-10) opened the second half with a three-pointer and then ignited the crowd with an alley-oop from Golden Ingle (2-for-10) at the 18:26 mark in the second half opening a six-point lead.

The Indians would then cut the KSU lead to 44-40 when sophomore Clemente Martin (5-for-10) came up with a steal and a layup at the 13:05 mark.

Stegall then opened the game as he scored seven of the next eight points as the Owls extended their lead to 10 points. An exclamation dunk gave the Owls an eight-point advantage before putting the game out of reach with the second Ingle-Wooten alley-oop.

Kennesaw State matched its season-high total in rebounds with 41. They would also hold a 14-point advantage on the boards. KSU continued its dominance down low as they scored half of their 68 points in the paint.

Wooten scored 14 points, while Ingle and freshman Keonte Keith added eight points. Keith also grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.

The Indians had two players in double figures junior Cory Etheridge (6-for-9) and Martin both had 16 points. Senior Alonzo Hinds (4-for-8) chipped in with nine points.

The Owls hit the road as they head to Deland, Florida to take on the Hatters of Stetson, in the first conference game of the season. Tip is set for Thursday, Nov. 30 at 8:15 p.m.
