KENNESAW, Ga. - Jacksonville State's Cobie Carlisle hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime and the Gamecocks held off Kennesaw State in a thrilling, 81-76, opening game at the KSU Convocation Center.

After tying the game, Carlisle (6-for-11) drained another three-pointer to begin overtime and set the pace for the Gamecocks (1-0), who never trailed the rest of the game.

The Lady Owls (0-1) took a nine-point lead when a Rosetta Hollis (6-for-12) made a lay-up with 6:18 left to give Kennesaw State a 61-52 lead. However, a pair of free throws by Jolie Efezokhae kicked off a 13-0 run that erased the Lady Owls lead and gave JSU a 65-61 lead with just under three minutes remaining.

Ashley Johnson (0-for-7), who scored all of her eight points from the free-throw line, feed Hollis with a quick pass in the paint to trim the lead to a basket. Jennifer Baker (6-for-11), who had a game-high 20 points, hit a free throw to pull KSU within one with two minutes left. Johnson then hit a pair of free throws to give the Lady Owls a 66-65 lead.

After a defensive stop gave the Lady Owls the ball with a one-point lead and 18 seconds left, Hollis missed one of two free-throws and with three seconds remaining, DeAndrea Bullock had the chance to ice the game but missed the first of her two free-throws setting up Carlisle's dramatic jumper.

Ngoneh Gaye had a double-double for Kennesaw State with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Carlisle led Jacksonville State with 17 points and 10 rebounds while four other players scored in double-figures for the Gamecocks including 15 points each from LaTonya McKinney and Courtney Slaughter.
