JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Laura Tucker netted her fourth goal of the season in the 70th minute to propel Kennesaw State to a 2-1 win at East Tennessee State on Saturday night.
With the win, the Owls (8-1-2, 4-0-1 Atlantic Sun) stretch their undefeated streak to nine games dating back to the Owls' 3-1 loss to No. 12 Florida on August 27. ETSU falls to 3-7-2 and 2-2-1 in the conference.
KSU got on the board first in the 9th minute when senior defender Rebecca Hall scored her third goal of the year. The Windsor, England native has scored all three of her tallies off corner kicks sent in by Stephanie Grzeszkowiak.
The Buccaneers responded in the 25th minute as freshman Jordan Monty put her team-leading eighth goal of the year past Owls' keeper Staci Pugh to knot the score at one all. The teams would then settle into more of a defensive battle to go into halftime tied.
But as they have done for much of the season, KSU continued to apply the pressure in the second half of action. The moves would pay off as Tucker fired a shot past ETSU's Erin Bilyeu to send the Owls home victorious.
KSU out-shot the Bucs 18-10 and also held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Bilyeu finished the match with six saves, while Pugh only recorded one as ETSU only managed to put two shots on goal on the night.
The Owls will continue their three-game road trip when they travel to Campbell on October 12.
