Box Score

MACON, Ga. - The Kennesaw State volleyball team fought valiantly, bout was unable to pull out a victory, falling to intra-state foe Mercer, 3-0 (30-16, 30-17, 30-14) in the University Center on Friday night.

With the win, the Bears move to 10-17 and 2-5 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The loss is the 12th straight for the Owls, who fall to 1-20 (0- A-Sun) in their first year of play.

KSU jumped out in the first game to take a quick 1-0 lead after a kill by Ginny Frederick. But that would be the last lead the Owls would hold as a -0.67 attack percentage was the detriment to KSU as Mercer won the first game easily.

Things didn't get much better for the Owls in the second game. Despite hitting .214, their best average of the night, Mercer responded to hit .419 to take game two. Game three was much of the same, as the Bears won the first six points to go onto the three-game sweep.

Karen Dorris and Kellie Violette paced the Bears with 10 kills apiece, while Liz Kane added 11 digs defensively. No Owl recorded double-digits kills, with Jasmine Ruiz coming the closest with eight.

The Owls will wrap-up their inaugural season when they travel to Stetson on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
