KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State volleyball team tried to send its seniors off with a win in their next to final home match, but were unable to do so as Lipscomb defeated the Owls, 3-0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-15), on Friday night at the KSU Convocation Center.
The Bisons improve to 10-13 overall and 5-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference, while KSU falls to 1-18, 0-6 in its inaugural year.
Caring the momentum from the senior night celebration, the Owls showed fight and we able to hang with the Bisons for much of game one. In fact, down 20-18, the Owls rallied behind two errors from Lipscomb and kills by Jasmine Ruiz and Ashley Landers to take a 21-20 lead. The Bisons fought back however, and took game one 30-25.
The Owls looked to rebound and managed to improve their hitting percentage to .146 in the second game. However, Lipscomb also improved, and with a .278 percentage took game two 30-24.
The Bisons pulled away in game three, winning the first seven points. The Owls tried their hardest to recover, and managed to cut the lead to 25-11 later in the game, but Lipscomb was just too much and left Kennesaw with the three-game sweep.
The Owls will play their final home match of the season against Belmont on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.
