KENNESAW, Ga. - Laura Tucker scored two goals while Pip Meo and Sara Clapham each added three assists as Kennesaw State defeated Lipscomb before a loud and chilled crowd of over three hundred at the KSU Soccer Complex.
Kennesaw State (11-1-2, 7-0-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) struck first in the 19th minute as Tucker scored her seventh goal of the season with help from Whitney Marler and Caitlin Dingle.
In the 37th minute, Dingle scored her fifth goal of the season with Meo and Annie Phillips assisting as the Owls took a 2-0 lead into intermission.
Katie Shelton, the NCAA leader in saves, added to her number as the Owls took 38 shots in the match. Shelton picked up 13 saves, eight in the first half as she tried valiantly to keep the Bisons (1-16-0, 0-8-0 A-Sun) in the match.
The Owls scored three second half goals in just under 11 minutes, beginning when Phillips scored in the 78th minute. Tucker would add her eighth goal of the season in the 81st minute and Abby Hirsch concluded the scoring with her second goal of the season.
Clapham, who now has 10 assists on the season, was part of all three second half goals and has 12 points on the season.
KSU goalkeeper Staci Pugh picked up her tenth shutout of the season. The freshman faced just three shots in the match and had one save as the Kennesaw State defense, led by captain Rebecca Hall, was once again impenetrable.
The Owls will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they tangle with Belmont in the conference finale. The Bruins and Kennesaw State will kick off at 2:00 p.m. at the KSU Soccer Complex.
