Box Score

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Lindsay Plotner recorded 10 kills but the Kennesaw State volleyball team fell at conference-leading East Tennessee State, 3-0 (30-22, 30-24, 30-18), on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Owls fall to 1-17 overall and 0-7 in the A-Sun in their inaugural year, while ETSU improves to 18-5 and 5-0 in the league.

After a kill by Plotner pulled the two teams even early in game one, the Buccaneers rattled off five straight points to take an 8-3 lead. Back-to-back kills pulled KSU within three, but that was as close as the Owls would get before ETSU secured the first game.

KSU showed more fight in game two as they battled the Bucs early on. But led by one of the conference's top duos in Callie Kiselich and Jennifer Sartor, ETSU took control of the second game to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Just like they had done in the first two games, the Owls came out and won the first point on the strength of a Jenny Black kill. The optimism faded, however, and the Bucs went on to secure the three-game sweep.

Plonter was the only Owl to record double-digit kills. Ashley Landers and Jasmine Ruiz each posted six, while Aaryn Phillips led the way defensively with ten digs.

Kiselich paced the Bucs with 14 kills, while Sartor had ten. Kaena Apana has 15 digs for ETSU.

Despite having one of their better hitting performances, the Owls were out-hit by the .350 to .204.

The Owls will be back in action when they return to the KSU Convocation on October 20 for a 7:00 p.m. match against Lipscomb.
