ATLANTA, Ga. - September 10, 2005 - Piotr Kaszkur finished in first place as he lead a foursome of Kennesaw State runners to place in the top five as the Owls won the 2005 Mercer Invitational at the Atlanta Campus.
Competing in their first meet as a Division I member, the Owls (12-0) showed no signs of nervousness or intimidation as they finished with 23 points, 21 points ahead of runner-up Georgia Tech.
Along with Kaszkur, Kennesaw State saw Jason Waters finish second, Lukasz Skrzypiec place third and newcomer Daniel Gormley finish fifth. KSU rounded out it's scoring with a 12th place showing by Maxwell Ndugu
Kaszkur and Waters, both seniors, battled throughout the 5k course with Kaszkur nipping Waters at the finish line by a scant .72 seconds.
The Owls also had three additional runners finish in the top 30 including, Michael Johnson (27), Scott Phillips (28) and Matthew Coy (30).
