6/30/2005 12:00:00 AM

KENNESAW - The Kennesaw State Lady Owls were held scoreless for the first six minutes of the game, and Georgia College and State University's Latia Love poured in 22 points in a 80-60 win for the Lady Bobcats at the Spec Landrum Centre on Wednesday night.

GCSU improves to 13-5 overall and 4-3 in the Peach Belt Conference. KSU falls to 10-7, 2-4.

The Lady Bobcats applied the pressure to the Lady Owls from the outset, bolting out to a 19-0 lead before Kennesaw scored its first basket. Stephanie Searce broke the ice for the Lady Owls with a putback with 13:48 remaining in the first half, but the damage had already been done.

Kennesaw was hampered by sloppy play in the first half with 17 turnovers. Things weren't much better the rest of the way with 31 total turnovers for KSU.

GCSU built its lead to as many as 31 in the second half. KSU never got closer than 15 in the loss.

The Bobcats placed four players in double digits, led by Love. Ashley Williams added 16, while Renea Phillips and Kirsti Jones scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. Alicia Porter had 10 rebounds for GCSU.

Kennesaw's Shavonder Clarke led the Owls with 13 points, and Searce added 10. Lauren Harris had 11 blocks for the Owls, who will play at Francis Marion on Saturday at 2 p.m.

It was Kennesaw State's worst home loss since a 25-point defeat at the hands of Portland State in 1994.
