KENNESAW, Georgia - December 9, 2005- Kennesaw State men's basketball coach Tony Ingle announced that the Owls have signed 7'0" center John Scott Allison from Edinburgh, Scotland to a national letter of intent.

Allison, who starred for Swansea College in Wales, is the first formal commitment Kennesaw State has this year and the first-ever early signee the Owls have had since Ingle became head coach in 1999.

"We are very excited that John chose Kennesaw State University," boasted Ingle. "We feel like it's a good fit for him as well as us."

This season Allison, who also played at James Young High School, the West Lothian Wolves and City of Edinburgh Kings teams, averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds a game for Swansea and is the first player to go straight from Scotland to a college in the United States to play basketball.

"America is the home of basketball and it is every player's dream to go there and be a part of it," said an excited Allison on his basketball future. "It's just awesome; I still can't quite believe it. It's all I want to do."

"He's an outstanding person," added Ingle. "He is a very serious student and he has a great upside as far as basketball is concerned."

Allison is the second athlete to come from Scotland to play at Kennesaw State. Siobhan Rooney, also from Edinburgh, plays for the women's soccer team.
