About
Fifth Third Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is a world-class, 10,200 seat facility that was completed in the spring of 2010 and has garnered national recognition as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics facilities in the country.

Since its official opening on May 2, 2010, Fifth Third Stadium has been home to the Kennesaw State women’s soccer and lacrosse teams. In the fall of 2015, it became home to the KSU football team when it kicked off its inaugural season.

The venue has a history of hosting premier Atlanta sports throughout the years including the Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse in the spring of 2016, the Atlanta Beat of the Women's Professional Soccer from 2010 to 2012 and most recently the Atlanta United 2 men's soccer team of the United Soccer League beginning in the spring of 2019.

Originally opened as KSU Stadium, the Atlanta Beat played the first-ever athletics event in the venue against the Sky Blue FC on May 9, 2010.

In 2025, through a transformative $4 million gift, the playing surface was renamed Walens Family Field. Click here for more details.

Kennesaw State Football
Football made its debut at Fifth Third Stadium on Sept. 12, 2015 and defeated Edward Waters, 58-7, before a then stadium-record crowd of 9,506 rabid fans. The Owls concluded their inaugural season with a 5-1 home record.

The Fifth Third Stadium atmosphere immediately gained the attention of national media as it was ranked No. 10 on StadiumJourney.com's Top 25 rankings of Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) stadiums that was released in January of 2016.

The rankings take into account food and drink choices, atmosphere, neighborhood, fans, access, return on investment, and special features.

Kennesaw State Lacrosse
History was made once more on March 2, 2013 when the Kennesaw State lacrosse team hosted Coastal Carolina in its first-ever home game on a 37-degree day at Fifth Third Stadium.

Kennesaw State Soccer
The Kennesaw State soccer team made its stadium debut on August 14, 2010 when it hosted Jacksonville State in an exhibition.

National Recognition
In 2012, NCAA.com labeled Fifth Third Stadium a top-five must-see facility in an article highlighting the country’s top collegiate athletics facility. The stadium was part of a list that included the Yale Bowl (Yale), NU Coliseum (Nebraska), Beaver Stadium (Penn State) and Alex G. Spanos Stadium (Cal Poly).

Location
Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium, located on a 21-acre parcel of land, lies between George Busbee Parkway and the I-575 overpass on Big Shanty Road.

The bowl-shaped stadium features a prominent stage deck located on the north end and is the central feature of the Kennesaw State University Sports and Entertainment Park, which was completed in April 2012. The park also features seven competition fields, a practice facility, NCAA regulation track and sand volleyball courts, a nine-acre lake and one-mile walking trail in addition to ample green space for general recreation. In addition to KSU Athletics, the park supports KSU events, intramurals, club sports and student programs as well as community events including concerts, tournaments, festivals and sporting events.
