THE STORYLINE:
· A career-high 13 strikeouts from RHP Tony Dibrell could not hold off High Point in the series opener, dropping a 7-6 decision at Stillwell Stadium on Friday night.
· In his fourth start of the season, Dibrell recorded the second-most punch outs in a single game in KSU's D-I history, but High Point held the Owls' offense to five hits and held off a ninth-inning rally to take the opener.
· With the loss, KSU dropped to 6-7 overall on the season while High Point improved its overall record to 7-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The Owls' Dibrell was sharp from the start, striking out seven Panthers over the first three innings –including three in the third— while facing one over the minimum.
· The Alpharetta, Ga., native was dialed in the strike zone all night, tossing 40 of his first 60 pitches for strikes which added up to 11 punch outs through the first five innings of work.
· The righty added one more in the sixth and one more in the seventh to finished with a career-high 13 strikeouts.
· In a hard-fought effort, Dibrell ended the night allowing four runs (two earned) on just four hits in 6.2 innings of work, earning his second no decision of the season.
· The Owls pushed four unearned runs across home plate with two in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-2 lead into the middle innings, but five unanswered runs from High Point's lineup took a 7-4 lead into the ninth.
· Kennesaw State had its biggest inning in the last half of the ninth, plating two on three hits but left the tying run on third base.
· Offensively, Chris Erwin (3-for-3, RBI), David Chabut (1-for-2) and Grant Williams (RBI) paced KSU's lineup on the night.

#NESTNOTES:
· Dibrell's 13 strikeouts marked the most punch outs in a single game since Chris Erwin's 15-K performance at Georgia Southern on May 12, 2015.
· His 13-strikeout performance marked the second-most (Erwin) in a single game in D-I history since joining the ASUN in 2006.
· Dibrell's 6.2 innings on the mound Friday fell just a third of an inning shy of tying his longest outing for his career.
· David Chabut's three runs scored tied a career high.
