Previewing the Tigers in 2017
Texas Southern (0-4) enters Saturday night's game in search of its first win a 0-4 record. Two of the Tigers losses have been one-score setbacks to Houston Baptist (24-17) and last week's 24-17 defeat to Alcorn State. QB Dominic DeLira, who is expected to start in place of the injured Jay Christophe, was 23-of-43 passing last week for 183 yards and an interception. The main target on the perimeter is Darvin Kidsy, who has hauled in a team-high 23 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns. In the backfield, Brad Woodard leads the team with 37 carries for 143 yards, averaging 3.9 yards per carry and one touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, DB Archie Rice will attempt to have another stand out season after finishing last year with 41 solo tackles and 43 assisted. The Tigers finished the 2016 season with a 4-7 record and 4-5 in SWAC play.
