KENNESAW, Ga. –
Katie Meyer and
Rachel Van Amburgh of the Kennesaw State women's track and field team have been named to the ASUN Indoor Track and Field All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday (Mar. 12).
Meyer was a unanimous selection to the team carrying a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Environmental Engineering. Meyer competed in five meets, taking 10th in the mile at the ASUN Championship with a personal-best time of 5:10.64. The junior finished fifth in the 5K at the Liberty Kickoff (17:48.46) and eighth at the ASUN Championship (18:07.54). She grabbed 49th in the 5k at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with a season-best time of 17:36.97. She was ninth in the 3K at the South Carolina Invitational with a time of 10:13.05, her career best and eighth best in the ASUN this season. This is the second time that Meyer has been named to the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Van Amburgh has a 4.0 GPA majoring in Exercise Science. The senior participated in five indoor meets primarily in the 800m and mile. In the 800m, she earned a pair of top-eight finishes including fifth at the ASUN Championship in a career-best time of 2:13.03. She won the mile at the Liberty Kickoff with a time of 5:08.50 and was eighth at the ASUN Championship with a career-best time of 5:00.27. The Roswell, Ga. native was on the Owls distance medley relay team that finished second in a time of 12:08.59 at the ASUN Championship. This is Van Amburgh's first selection to the ASUN Indoor All-Academic Team.
Meyer and Van Amburgh open their outdoor season on March 20-21 at the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
