United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Teams
KENNESAW, Ga. –
Sophomore defender Kelsey Hahn
was named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division I Women's All-South Region Team, it was announced by the organization this week.
Hahn's all-region selection marks the second consecutive year the Owls have had an individual recognized by the USC as she joins Abby Roth
, who was named second team all-southeast region a year ago.
"I am really proud for Kelsey as this award didn't come overnight," head coach Benji Walton
said. "She put in the work day in and day out starting last January and it showed on the field this past fall. While this award is a compliment to Kelsey's play, I believe her best soccer is still to come and I look forward to watching her develop as a soccer player."
Hahn enjoyed a solid sophomore campaign after moving the forward position to the back and helping the Owls to a 12-6-1 record and register nine shutouts. For her efforts, the Marietta, Ga. native was named first team ASUN Conference.
Hahn is one of five KSU individuals to earn all-region honors since the program moved to the NCAA Division I level in 2005. Laura Tucker was a first team all-region honoree by Soccer Buzz
in 2005, while Katrina Hirsch (2005) and Rachel Baer (2008) earned third team recognition by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), now known as the United Soccer Coaches, and Roth in 2017.
