KENNESAW, Ga. –
First-year head women's soccer coach Benji Walton
announced the signing of five individuals to National Letters-of-Intent on Thursday (Feb. 4). The group will join the Kennesaw State program this fall.
The 2016 class includes goalkeeper Tiffany Sornpao
(Berkley Lake, Ga. / Duluth High School) and four midfielders that include Charlotte Rindt
(Augusta, Ga./Augusta Preparatory Day School), Morgan Harrison
(Canton, Ga. /Cherokee High School), Haley Worthy
(Winston, Ga. /Alexander High School), and Emely Sosa
(Pembroke Pines, Fla./ Pembroke Pines Charter High School).
"I am thrilled to announce the signing of our 2016 class," Walton said. "This is a group with great character that is highly competitive and motivated to put in the work to help our team succeed. I am excited to see them in black and gold, and I am looking forward to the impact that I know they are going to make to our program this fall and beyond."
Sornpao was a four-year member at Duluth HS where she was a two-time Class 6A Region 7 Goaltender of the Year. As a junior, she was named First Team All-Gwinnett County by the Gwinnett Daily Post
after registering a school record 10 shutouts. She was 32-16-2 as the starter for the Wildcats under coach Tessa Heaton. A member of the UFA Norcross 98 Premier, Sornapo led her team to titles at the 2015 Adidas Cup Tournament and the 2014 Charlotte Invitational Tournament.
Rindt is a three-year starter at Augusta Preparatory Day School where she led the Cavaliers to a pair of Georgia Interscholastic Sports Association (GISA) state championships. As a junior, she earned both all-region and all-state honors. Rindt helped her Augusta Blaze club team to the Atlanta Cup Championship in 2015.
Harrison was a four-year letter winner at Cherokee HS where she was a two-time team Offensive Most Valuable Player. As a junior she led the Warriors in assists while notching eight goals and 17 assists. Harrison led her Top Hat Gold 16 club team to three consecutive Georgia state championships.
A three-year letter winner at Alexander HS, Worthy helped her team make two state playoff appearances. As a junior, she scored 23 goals and collected 48 assists which earned her Class 5A Region 5 All-Region and All-Gwinnett County honors as the Cougars won the Class 5A Region title and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Class 5A playoffs.
As a sophomore, Worthy scored 19 goals and added 31 assists while leading the Cougars to the semifinals of the Class 5A playoffs. She also earned Class 5A Region 5 All-Region Team honors in addition to being tabbed the Douglas County Player of the Year and All-Douglas County by the Douglas County Sentinel.
As a freshman, Worthy scored 12 goals and added 22 assists. She also won a pair of Atlanta Cup titles as a member of the Mays Elite club team.
Sosa comes to Kennesaw State after leading Pembroke Pines Charter HS to a pair of State Class 3A semifinal appearances. She also helped her Boca Juniors club team to a Disney Showcase Championship and a pair of Sweet 16 appearances in the State Cup Tournament. Sosa also competed for the U17 and U20 Dominican Republic National Team.
