GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule with a solid showing at the Furman Duals this weekend. Junior Kennedy Craig led the way with combined record of 3-3 for the Owls.

The Owls won four of the seven singles matches versus Presbyterian and five of the eight singles matches against USC-Upstate. In doubles action, KSU was 2-1 against Presbyterian and 2-2 against Upstate.

"The team showed a lot of improvement during the weekend at Furman," said Director of Tennis Eduardo Rincon. "We played a lot of solid, competitive matches and that's what we look for when we compete in the fall. I'm excited for the Spring season and seeing what we can do as a team."

Craig recorded singles victories over Ferreira of USC-Upstate and Croxton of Presbyterian (6-3, 6-1), while teaming with Alex Mercado for a double victory over Presbyterian's Taylor and Schepers (6-2). The match against Ferreira was a back-and-forth three-setter that Craig pulled out, 10-8, in the final set. Craig took the opening set 6-2, dropped a tight 6-7 decision in the second set before winning it in the third.
 
"Kennedy played one of the most excited matches I saw this weekend," said Rincon. "She faced all kinds of adversity in her singles match against Upstate. She was ahead and finally had to come back from behind to win her match and I was proud the fight she showed."

The Owls have wrapped up their fall schedule and won't return to action until January 22 versus Samford.
