KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State soccer team opened exhibition play against Southeastern Conference foe Auburn, falling to the Tigers, 5-0, on Thursday (Aug. 13) night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Auburn got on the board in the 17th minute after a foul was called in the Owls' box and the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick, which Brooke Ramsier converted for the game's first score.
Back-to-back goals at the end of the first half pushed the Tiger advantage to 3-0 heading into intermission, before a pair of second half scores gave Auburn a 4-0 victory in the teams' first exhibition action.
The Owls will next be in action for a KSU Soccer Exhibition on Sunday (Aug. 16) at 4 p.m. ET in conjunction with the first Kennesaw State Fall Festival.
"As I said to the players after the game, I was pleased with the game. We knew it would be a big challenge to play against a team like that; that is why you have that game on the schedule. It was a great introduction to our freshman players. Overall, I was pleased. The work rate was good. We got everyone who was healthy into the game. Lots learned, lots of work to be done, but pleased with the group."
