KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated USC Upstate 5-2 in its last match of the regular season on Saturday (Apr. 11) in Spartanburg, S.C.

KSU gained the momentum early as it clinched the doubles point at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

The No. 1 team consisting of
Virginie Stein/
Jana Hueckinghaus defeated Anna Zoske/Nona Ruppert 8-1.

The Spartans fought back during singles play, taking wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, however the Owls dominated at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to knock of Upstate.

Senior Jana Hueckinhaus defeated Nona Ruppert 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, junior
Isabela Castro beat Nina Roell 7-6, 6-3 at No. 4, freshman
Cristina Martin was successful in her 6-3, 6-0 match over Sharlee Deshmukh at No. 5 and sophomore
Ashleigh De Wet joined the victory circle with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Sarah Vande Berg at the No. 6 position.

With the win, KSU ends its regular season with an overall record of 3-13 and a conference record of 1-5.
