KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team will play in its second event of the fall season as it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. to compete in the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic, held at the Champions Club Tennis Center.
The Owls are coming off a very successful start to its 2011-12 season as they won five of the six flights at the Second Annual Kennesaw State Invitational.
Leading the way for the Black and Gold was senior captain
Vera Shkundina who didn’t drop a set all tournament winning the Singles A Flight and the Doubles A Flight with partner
Jana Hueckinghaus.
KSU picked up two more singles titles at the KSU Invitational as junior
Therese Lagerkvist went 5-1 on the weekend to win the Singles B Flight title, while freshman
Tamara Plocher also put up a 5-1 record to take home the Singles C Flight title.
Kennesaw State has some recent success playing in the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic as it won a singles and a doubles title last season.
"After seeing what we did in our first tournament, and in practice over this past week, I have decided to change up a couple of our doubles pairings heading into Friday," head coach
Jeffery Kutac said. "I am excited to see how the players compete in this tournament, and how they progress throughout the fall season."
Play will start on Friday, Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.
