KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team is set to compete in its third event of its 2011-12 season as it travels to Clarksville, Tenn. on Friday to play in the Austin Peay Invitational for the second straight year.

The Owls are coming off a three-title weekend at the very competitive Steve Baras Invitational. Senior Vera Shkundina won the Singles Blue Flight title for her second singles title of the fall. The Ufa, Russia native boasts a perfect singles record of 10-0 so far in the fall season.

Sophomore Alexandra Apostu and junior Therese Lagerkvist each took home a singles title of their own on the weekend as Apostu won the Singles Blue Flight consolation title, while Lagerkvist won the Singles Platinum Flight consolation title.

Last season Kennesaw State took home two titles at this event so head coach Jeffery Kutac is excited to see what his team can do at this event this year.

“I think we have made some steady improvements through our first two events of the fall season,” coach Kutac said. “I am excited to see what the team does this weekend in a very competitive field, and we will look to continue to improve and come together as a group.”

The Black and Gold will begin play on Friday, October 7 at 3 p.m.
