GENERAL
Q: What is the annual fund?
A: The annual fund is the yearly fundraising campaign for Kennesaw State Athletics. Annual donations made through The Owls Fund help offset student-athlete scholarship costs and provide support for the general operational needs of the Department of Athletics, such as recruiting, medical, and travel expenses. Each annual fund campaign runs from July 1 - June 30.
Q: I would like to set up a monthly credit card draft to pay my Owls Fund donation. Can I do that?
A: Yes. Setting up a monthly credit/debit card draft is a great way to break your donation into smaller payments while still making a large impact on our program. To set up a monthly credit/debit card draft, either mail in your pledge card with this option selected or call The Owls Fund to set up your deduction over the phone.
Q: Can I open a joint account with a friend?
A: No, joint accounts are not permitted. Individuals who would like to join The Owls Fund must each have their own account. Priority Points earned through each account belong solely to the donor whose name is on the account and may not be divided or transferred to others. In addition, only the individual whose name is on the account will receive information for tax purposes and credit for donations made.
Q: How are Priority Points used?
A: Priority Points are used to fairly allocate donor benefits, such as season ticket and parking locations for football and post-season competitions. The Owls Fund will "rank" all donors based on their Priority Points Total. For football, Priority Points will determine your ability to relocate season tickets and the order in which new football season ticket holders will be able to chooseseats.
Q: I am a Kennesaw State alumnus. How do I make sure the 5 Priority Points awarded to all alumni are reflected on my account?
A: To receive your 5 alumni points, you must inform The Owls Fund of your status as a KSU alumnus either by checking the "Kennesaw State Alumni" box on your pledge card or by contacting The Owls Fund directly. A donor's alumni status is not automatically recognized when donations are made, so it is up to the donor to communicate their affiliation to our office. The Owls Fund works closely with the KSU Alumni Association to confirm all records.
Q: Is my Owls Fund donation tax deductible?
A: Yes, a portion of your donation is tax deductible (typically 80%). Each January, The Owls Fund provides all donors with a summary of their giving for the calendar year as well as an estimated value of benefits received. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor to determine the value of your tax deduction. To receive a 100% tax deduction, donors have the option to waive all Owls Fund benefits. To do so, The Owls Fund must be notified of this intent in writing at the time the gift is made.
Q: Is there a special membership rate for Young Alumni?
A: We do not offer a special rate for young alumni at this time. However, all alumni receive 5 Priority Points upon joining The Owls Fund.
Q: Does The Owls Fund accept matching gifts?
A: Yes. While many companies no longer match donations to athletics as a result of new IRS regulations, some still do. Donors must first consult with their employer's benefits office to discuss the eligibility of a matching gift. If eligible, the employer's matching gift form must be completed and submitted with the donation. Matching gifts to the General Fund will be applied to a donor's giving level and Priority Point credit will be awarded. To receive credit on your account, it is the donor's responsibility to ensure that their name is associated with the matching funds when they are sent from the employer.
