KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State track and field program will recognize 14 seniors in an on-field ceremony before Wednesday's baseball game vs. Georgia Southern at Stillwell Stadium at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The women's track and field senior class consists of 10 Owls that have had a profound impact on the program. As a group, they helped lead Kennesaw State to the 2017 ASUN Indoor Championship, scoring a meet-record 249 points. In indoor track, they set 14 school records, one conference championship record, and earned 30 all-conference selections. In outdoor track, they hold 12 school records, one conference championship record and earned 26 all-conference selections. Collectively, this group has won 10 gold medals at the ASUN Championships, had two NCAA All-Americans, and an NSCA All-American.
Morgan Campbell came to Kennesaw State as a jumper in 2013. She has blossomed to one of the top jumpers in woman's program history. In her career, she has won 12 events, set two school records and has made the ASUN All-Conference team seven times. She was named an NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year. The Wellington, Florida native will graduate in the fall of this year with a degree in integrative studies.
Katie Frey came to KSU as a pole vaulter in 2013 from Marietta. In her career, she has nine top-five finishes, has competed at ASUN Championships seven times and won the bronze medal at the 2016 ASUN Indoor Championships. She will graduate this summer with a degree in Business Management.
Crystal Gray joined the Owls as a sprinter in the fall of 2015. She holds one school record, won a gold medal at the 2017 ASUN Indoor Championships in the 4x400m relay and is a member of the Owls 4x400m relay team which is currently leading the ASUN this outdoor season. Gray, a native of Stone Mountain, Georgia will graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice in the fall of 2017.
Kidan Kidane has competed in both track and field and cross country since joining the Owls in 2013. In cross country, she won the 2016 Upstate Invitational, was a two-time ASUN First Team All-Conference selection and ASUN Runner of the week. In track, she holds five school records, is a two-time gold-medalist at the ASUN Championships, and was named Most Outstanding Track Performer of the 2016 ASUN Indoor Championships. The native of Ethiopia will leave KSU with a degree in Exercise Science this summer.
Laura-Maria Oja is a hurdler who is in the midst of her fourth season of track for the Owls. She holds one regular event school record, is a member of three school-record relay teams, is a two-time ASUN All-Conference team member and three-time ASUN All-Academic selection. The Estonian native will graduate with a degree in Biochemistry next spring.
Diaja Oliver joined the nest as a sprinter in 2013. She is on a pair of relay teams that hold the school record in the 4x400m relays, is a member of three ASUN champion 4x400 relay teams, and is a member of the Owls 4x400m relay team which is currently leading the ASUN this outdoor season. The Sandy Springs, Georgia native will graduate with a degree in Accounting next spring.
Fallon Reed is the second of two jumpers set to leave the nest after this season. Reed has 12 top-five finishes in her, was the bronze medalist in the triple jump at the 2014 ASUN Outdoor Championships and has competed in seven ASUN Championships. The Marietta, Georgia native will graduate this fall with a degree in public relations.
Shakedra Robinson came to Kennesaw State in the fall of 2013 from Lumber City, Georgia as a combined eventer. She has quickly risen to one of the top combined eventers in program history. Robinson is the owner of four school records, is a 10-time ASUN All-Conference team member, and has competed in the first round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She will graduate this spring with a degree in Integrative Studies.
Maileka Slayton is wrapping up her final season wearing the Black and Gold. In her four years, she has collected two school records, won six gold medals at the ASUN Championships and was a member of the Owls 4x100m relay team that earned Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2014. The Norcross, Georgia native will be getting her degree in Sports Management this fall.
Hannah Wood is the third and final sprinter who is leaving the Nest at the conclusion of this season. Wood has five school records and is a member of four relay teams currently holding school records. She has won five gold medals at the ASUN Championships, made the ASUN All-Conference team seven times and is a member of the Owls 4x100m relay team that earned NCAA Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2013. The Carrollton, Georgia native will graduate with her degree in Sociology this week.
The men's track and field senior class consists of four Owls that have helped establish the program as one of the most successful in ASUN Conference history. This group has played a role in leading Kennesaw State to seven consecutive ASUN Championship titles. In indoor track, they have collected five ASUN Individual Championships, one ASUN Most Outstanding Track Performer, six ASUN Athlete of the Week Awards, and one ASUN All-Academic member. In outdoor track, they collectively have been named ASUN Outdoor Athlete of the week nine times, won 11 gold medals at the ASUN Championships, earned one NCAA Second Team All-American honor and one NSCA All-American Honor.
Hunter Arnold is a senior pole vaulter who came to KSU in 2013. He is the current school record-holder in the pole vault indoors, is a three-time gold medalist in the pole vault, and a member of the 2017 ASUN Indoor Track All-Academic Team. This past fall, he became the inaugural recipient of the Ellen Tabor Scholarship. The Kennesaw, Georgia native will depart KSU with a degree Sport Management this summer.
Joshua Mulder has quickly become one of the top combined eventers in KSU history. In his career, Mulder has seven combined event and six individual or relay school records. He has won six ASUN gold medals, was a Second Team All-American in the decathlon in 2015 and has competed in the US Olympic Trials and the Capital Cup Combined Events Championship. He was recently named and NSCA All-American. The Alpharetta, Georgia native will get his degree in Business Management this summer.
Terrell Singleton is the lone senior hurdler who leaves the Owls this season. Singleton owns the school record in the 55m hurdles in indoor track and has been on two relay teams currently holding school records. He is a four-time ASUN Gold medalist, won 11 career events, and was named ASUN Most Outstanding Track Performer of the 2016 Indoor Championships. The Kennesaw, Georgia native will graduate this fall with a degree in communications.
The last senior,
Fabeon Tucker joined the Owls as a thrower in the spring of 2016. Since arriving on campus, Tucker has collected nine event wins, four gold medals at the ASUN Championships and earned Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the 2017 ASUN Indoor Championships. The Christiana, Jamaica native will graduate with his degree in Integrative Studies this fall.
These 14 seniors and the rest of the Owls will begin postseason competition at the ASUN Outdoor Championships on May 12-13 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.
