KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football marked another stage in its growth Saturday when
Dante Blackmon became the program's first to receive minicamp invitations from NFL teams.
Â
Blackmon received invitations to both the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts minicamps, and chose to attend the Colts. Minicamps are geared toward getting the newly drafted rookies acclimated to the NFL playing schemes, and chance for NFL teams to offer tryouts to undrafted players.
Â
"For a program just two years old, this is another important step in our progression," said head coach
Brian Bohannon. "I couldn't be more proud of Dante. He's done it right, both on and off the field, and he absolutely deserves this opportunity. I look forward to him competing in Indianapolis, and I know he'll represent the Black & Gold well."
Â
Blackmon, a first-team All-Big South selection, led the conference with six interceptions (second-most in the FCS) and eight pass breakups this season. He logged a career-high three interceptions against Duquesne, becoming the 10th player in Big South history with three in one game. Blackmon was named Big South and National Defensive Player of the Week for his effort versus Duquesne.

The Covington, Ga., native had an impressive workout at the Owls' Pro Day in March and participated in the Dream Bowl – an all-star game for college seniors – in January.
