Coming off an important ASUN series sweep over USC Upstate at Stillwell Stadium, Kennesaw State enters the new week with a 15-17 overall record and begins a four-game road trip at Statesboro, Ga., for a non-conference tilt against Georgia Southern. The contest will air on GS All-Access, and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at J.I Clements Stadium.
ON DECK
- Kennesaw State enters the new week with an overall record of 15-17 after reeling off five wins over its last eight games. The Owls are batting .310 as a team over the eight-game stretch, out-hitting opponents 86-69 and outscoring opponents 48-40 over the stretch.
- The Owls begin a four-game road trip in Statesboro, Ga., taking on Georgia Southern for the 21st time in programs' history –10-10 all-time— since KSU joined the ASUN in 2006 as a D-I member.
- The Black and Gold have tallied a .301 batting average as a team on the road this season, totaling 110 hits, 13 doubles, one triple and 13 home run, driving in 67 RBI. KSU has slugged .448 and tallied an on-base percentage of .390 on the road.
- Taylor Allum reached base at least once in every game over the weekend versus USC Upstate, extending his streak to 26 games in which the junior outfielder has reached base safely in a game. The record is Max Pentecost's 36 games in 2014, and Allum recently snapped teammate Chris Erwin's mark of 22 games in 2015.
- Grant Williams' leadoff triple Sunday afternoon extended his hitting streak to 17 games this season. The junior second baseman is hitting .406 (28-for-69) during the stretch, driving in eight runs, tallying three doubles, one home run and 10 walks.
- Senior DH/OF Corey Greeson reached base at least once in every game over the weekend, now reaching base safely in 13 straight games. Over the stretch, the senior is batting .366 (15-for-41) with two doubles, one triple, two HR, and eight RBI.
- Two-way player Chris Erwin recorded three straight multi-RBI games for the Owls versus USC Upstate over the weekend, and now ranks second on the roster with six games of two or more runs batted in. The senior ranks fourth on the team with 19 RBI.
- Head Coach Mike Sansing is the reigning ASUN Coach of the Year, winning his first honors since Kennesaw State joined the ASUN in 2006. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
- The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. Sansing now sits 43 wins away from winning his 1,000th career game in the Black and Gold uniform.
