THE STORYLINE:Â
· The bats of Kennesaw State exploded in a big way Saturday afternoon, totaling 18 hits and scored 19 runs to even the weekend series at one apiece, defeating Middle Tennessee 19-5 at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
· The Owls scored crooked numbers in four different innings and single runs in the second and ninth frames to mark the fourth-highest scoring ballgame in KSU D-I history.
· With the victory, KSU improved to 6-4 overall and Middle Tennessee dropped to 4-6 through 10 games.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
· Kennesaw State recorded at least a one hit in seven of nine frames, putting three on the scoreboard in the first, four in the fifth, six more in the sixth and four in the seventh to extend its lead to 18-1 after 6.5 complete –the largest lead of the game.  Â
· KSU totaled just four extra base hits in the game –two home runs and a pair of doubles—and 14 singles, but patience at the plate paid off as the Owls took advantage of 13 walks issued by Middle Tennessee.
· For the Owls offensively,
Austin Upshaw (2-for-5, five RBI –career high),
Taylor Allum (3-for-3, four RBI—career high),
Grant Williams (3-for-5, two RBI) and
David Chabut (3-for-4, two RBI) combined for 11 of the 18 hits and 13 of the 18 RBI.
· The Owls' starting RHP
AJ Moore (2-1), a junior out of Dacula, Ga., was impressive behind the offensive explosion. Moore allowed just three hits and one run over 6.0 innings of work, while punching out three Blue Raiders to earn his second victory of the season.
