KENNESAW, Ga. – For almost a decade, Kennesaw State has hosted the annual Lexi's Day softball game with Georgia Tech serving as a willing partner. The Owls and Yellow Jackets will come together again on Tuesday, April 25 for the 10th Annual Lexi's Day at Bailey Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET).
The annual game partners the Kennesaw State Softball program with the Alexis Kaiser Foundation in an effort to assist local young people who suffer with a neuromuscular disease.
Each year the Owls and the Alexis Kaiser Foundation attempt to enrich the life of a local youth (and their family) by raising both funds and awareness for the scores of children that live with neuromuscular ailments.
"We are so grateful to Coach
Pete D'Amour and the current Owls, plus our friends at Georgia Tech, for allowing us to use their game as a means to try and make someone's life a little better,"
Scott Whitlock, KSU senior associate athletics director and former head softball coach, said. "They say that 'Charity starts at home', and I am so pleased that since 2008 Bailey Park has been the home of Lexi's Game. I promise that if you choose to come out and participate, your soul will be touched - plus, you will see two fine softball teams compete."
Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to support Lexi's Day by making a $10 contribution to the Kaiser Foundation. Cash as well as checks made out to the Kennesaw State Athletic Association will reward those contributing fans with a fine meal from the Marietta Fish Market.
A pre-game reception will begin at 5 p.m. in the Teasley Suite of the Bobbie Bailey Building, and meals will be limited to the first 150 fans who make a minimum $10 contribution. An on-field pregame ceremony will start at 5:50 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the gates or can be purchased in advance by coming by the KSU Department of Athletics office located in the KSU Convocation Center. Fans can also purchase their meal and make a contribution online
