KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior
Simon Pritchard was honored Wednesday by the ASUN Conference as the Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Pritchard, a native of Newport, Wales, was an undefeated 4-0 last week, winning both singles and doubles in matches versus Mercer and Belmont.
"This is well-deserved honor for Simon," said Director of Tennis
Eduardo Rincon. "He had an excellent week by going undefeated in singles and doubles, and I'm looking forward to him keeping that momentum going this weekend."
Â
Playing No. 1 singles for the Owls, Pritchard took down Mercer's Sam Philp, 6-4, 7-5, in a narrow 4-3 setback versus the Bears on Wednesday. On Saturday versus Belmont, it all came down to his match, and Pritchard pulled out a tough, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, victory over Cedric Dujacquier to clinch the team victory for the Owls, 4-3. Both of his doubles victories on the week came with partner
Manuel Castellanos as KSU won the doubles point each match.
Â
For the spring, Pritchard owns a 2-2 singles record and is 3-1 in doubles – the lone doubles loss coming at No. 11 Florida.
Â
The Owls (1-3) are back in action Saturday at Wofford at 12 p.m.
