THE STORYLINE: 
· Kennesaw State baseball dropped a Saturday showdown versus visiting BYU, 13-4, at Stillwell Stadium on the second day of the third annual Atlanta Challenge.
· The Cougars scored runs in six on their nine at-bats, including four crooked frames to propel itself past the Owls.
· With the loss, the KSU dropped to 1-1 on the young season, while BYU evened its record to 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· BYU scattered 13 hits throughout the day and totaled seven extra base hits to lead an offensive attack past Kennesaw State. The Cougars jumped out to a four-run lead after the second and never trailed in the ballgame.
· The Owls were led offensively by senior third baseman Jeremy Howell, who went 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI and also got key contributions from Corey Greeson (2-for-5, RBI), Taylor Allum (1-for-4, RBI) and Jake Franklin (1-for-4) –who all combined for seven of the Owls' nine hits.
· Kennesaw State's bullpen was solid through the middle innings –holding the Cougars to three runs from the fifth through the eighth –as Brian Exley and freshman Taylor Wilkes worked scoreless frames.
 
#NESTNOTES: 
· Allum matched his career high in home runs for a single season with two in his first two games of the 2017 season.    
· He totaled two home runs in 2015 and 2016, and now has six career long balls.
· Greeson knocked home his first RBI of the season with a one-out single to right field.
· Freshman Taylor Wilkes made his collegiate debut, coming out of the bullpen for the Black and Gold in the top of the eighth inning and worked a scoreless frame.
 
UP NEXT
The Owls return to action Sunday afternoon for the third and final game of the Atlanta Challenge, welcoming Marshall to Kennesaw State. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., and will be streamed on ASUN.TV.
