2017 NCBWA Preseason List
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's
Erich Stahl was one of 60 players chosen to the initial Stopper of the Year Watch List for the 13
th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, which is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division 1 baseball, members of NCBWA announced Monday (Feb. 13) afternoon.
The right-handed product that stands 5-9, 168 pounds out of Sautee, Ga., transferred to The Nest from Georgia Perimeter in 2016 and made an immediate impact, helping the Owls go 17-4 in ASUN play and capturing their first-ever regular-season championship. The righty appeared in 28 games a season ago, which tied for the sixth-most in a single season while posting a 3.67 ERA and eight saves.
In fact, Stahl's eight-save total was the third-most in a single season and he now sits 13 saves away from becoming the all-time saves leader in KSU D-I history. Of his 28 appearances, Stahl finished 22 of those games which were the fifth-most in a single season.
Stahl was one of two members selected out of the ASUN, as Jacksonville's Mike Cassala was the other chosen member of the Preseason Watch List. A full list of the selected members can be found by
