Previewing the Matchup
Kennesaw State puts its four-game winning streak on the line Saturday night when it heads to Liberty for the Big South Conference opener. The meeting is the third time the Owls and Flames meet on the gridiron. Kennesaw State is looking for its first victory over Liberty in program history and its second Big South Conference opening-victory in three seasons. The Flames return QB Stephen Calvert, coming off a season in which he led the Big South in passing yards, passing efficiency and touchdowns. The Flames' Carrington Mosley also returns in the backfield. He enters the weekend leading the team with 308 rushing yards on a team-high 77 carries and two touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Solomon McGinty will play his senior campaign as team captain. McGinty finished with 52 tackles and two interceptions. Liberty finished second in the Big South last year with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-1 conference record.
