MiLB Release

KENNESAW, Ga. – Former Kennesaw State Owl standout Stephen Janas, who was drafted in the sixth round in 2013 by the Atlanta Braves, was recently honored by MiLB.com as one of the Braves' Organization All-Stars for his outstanding 2016 season.

Janas played under 26th-year head coach Mike Sansing at Kennesaw State from 2011-13. In 2013, Janas had a record-setting season, compiling one of the lowest ERAs in the nation of 1.14. The Marietta native held a 9-1 record on the bump and set the ASUN single-season ERA record, breaking a 20-year mark. The righty picked up two complete games and gave up just 10 earned runs in 78.2 frames, while punching out a team-high 55 batters.

His play carried over for the hometown Braves, splitting time with the Class AA Mississippi Braves and the Class AAA Gwinnett Braves. In a total of 44 games, Janas posted a 2.75 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP over 85 frames and converted all four of his save opportunities.

Set to defend its 2016 ASUN regular season championship, Coach Sansing and the Owls will embark on a 55-game slate that begins on Feb. 17 versus Western Michigan as part of the Atlanta Challenge at Stillwell Stadium.

2017 season tickets are on-sale now for a special price of just $39. Single-game tickets will be available at a later date at a price of $5 for all ages. Premium game pricing (Georgia Tech, Georgia, Georgia Southern and Oklahoma) are $10 for adults and $6 for youth (12 and under). All seating is sold as general admission.
