KENNESAW, Ga. – Dulcie Sverdloff and
Medy Thavong were named to the 2015-16 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team on Tuesday afternoon.
"I always take great pride in having players named WGCA Academic All-Americans," Head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "The criteria for selection is one of the toughest of any awards given. It requires a 3.50 cumulative GPA and participation in over 50% of events. For the third year in a row, Dulcie has earned this honor. She takes great pride in her academics and is very deserving. I'm particularly proud of Medy for also being named academic All-American. She has to work incredibly hard to earn her grades and she has maintained a 4.0 GPA. I'm very proud of these players for their athletic achievements this year and to cap the year with this award is very fulfilling."
Sverdloff was named to the WGCA All-American Scholar team for the third year in a row while majoring in sports management with a 3.71 GPA. She played in 11 events finishing with a 75.97 scoring average. The Southend-on-Sea, Essex native shot the team's low round of the year of 69 (-3) in the final round of the Fall Invitational.
Thavong earned a 4.0 GPA while majoring in International Business. The Prachinburi, Thailand native played in 10 events and concluded the season with a 76.28 scoring average. She was the top finisher for the Owls at the Lady Paladin Invitational and the Clemson Invitational.
As a team, the Owls finished the year 3.32 GPA and all six ladies were named to the ASUN Honor Roll.
