KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior right-hander Logan Viers has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday (Feb. 29). It marks her first career pitcher of the week honor as she shares the recognition with USC Upstate's Holly McKinnon.
 
Viers pitched herself into the Kennesaw State record book as she capped an impressive weekend with a perfect game against Alabama A&M on Sunday (Feb. 28). The Owls' right-hander needed just 64 pitches to dispatch of the Bulldogs as she struck out six in six innings during an 8-0 victory.
 
Viers concluded the weekend 2-0 with a 1.98 ERA. In 17 2/3 innings, she allowed 11 hits, seven runs (five earned), walked two and struck out 23 to help the Owls post a 4-0 record at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament and improve to 10-1 on the season.
 
"We are all very proud to see Logan recognized by the A-Sun for her efforts this weekend," head coach Tory Acheson said. "She had a great weekend and it is gratifying to see her receive this honor."
 
In four games covering 17 2/3 innings, Viers allowed 11 hits, seven runs (five earned), walked two and struck out 23. She earned a victory against Alabama A&M on Saturday (Feb. 27) after working 4 2/3 innings, surrendering four hits, two runs and striking out seven. After starting, Viers was summoned back into the game in the seventh inning with one out and the tying run on second base and retired the only two batters she faced to secure the win.
 
Viers is currently 5-0 with a 1.30 ERA while making 10 starts and recording one complete game. In 37 2/3 innings, she has allowed just three walks and struck out 43.
 
Kennesaw State will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 2) when in travels to Georgia State to take on the Panthers at 6 p.m. (ET).
