ASUN Release
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State cross country runner
Kidan Kidane earned ASUN Conference Female Runner of the Week honors for her performances at the Upstate Invitational, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
"This was a needed race for Lily and the first race she has totally put together this season, which is a very good sign," head coach
David Poteet said. "I am so proud of her. She made much better use of her arms by getting them away from her body, which led to quicker legs. She was also smart aggressive and looked stronger throughout the race. This comes at a good time as we lead up to the ASUN Championships, which is loaded with very good runners, and regionals."
Kidane collected her first collegiate cross country win in the 5k with a time of 17:39.63 in the 8-team, 62-individual field, helping the Owls finish third as a team. She won the race by nearly 20 seconds over Lipscomb's Sally Larson. Her time of 17:39.63 was the second fastest of her cross country career. The senior has been the Owls top finisher in her last 11 meets.
Next up, Kidane and the Owls will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday, October 14 to run in the Crimson Classic at 10:30 A.M. ET
