KENNESAW, Ga. – Sophomore
Taylor Denton of the Kennesaw State softball earned a spot on the Atlantic Sun Conference Academic All-Conference team, the league announced on Monday (May 4) afternoon.
"We are very proud that Taylor was recognized for her achievements in the classroom and on the field of play," said head coach
Tory Acheson. "She is a special kid who works very hard. She is what Owl Proud is all about."

Denton, who owns a 3.75 GPA in exercise science, has helped lead the Owls to 31 wins this season, including a 12-8 conference record and a No. 3 seed in the upcoming A-Sun Championship.

The Grayson, Ga., native was one of three players to start in all 48 games for KSU, seeing action in both the outfield and at second base. She ranked second on the team 34 runs and was third with a .347 batting average and 50 hits on the season. Denton has been tough on the bases as well, going 14-of-16 in stolen bases, while being strong defensively after only committing two errors in 2015. Â

She has been one of the leaders in conference play and ranked second on the team and ninth in the A-Sun with a .421 batting average, while leading the team and ranking 10th in the league with a .484 on-base percentage in conference games. Denton has totaled 24 hits, 14 runs and eight RBI in A-Sun action, while owning a 1.000 fielding percentage. Â

Denton and the Owls will open A-Sun Conference Championship play on Wednesday against No. 6 seed Stetson at 5:30 p.m. ET at the FGCU Softball Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
