KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior
Alexandra Apostu (Bucharest, Romania / Ion Barbu) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday (Feb. 26).

Apostu continued her impressive play last weekend as she posted a 2-0 record at No. 2 singles and teamed with two different partners to go 1-1 in doubles play. The Owls' senior recorded straight-set victories over Georgia State's Masa Grgan and Georgia Southern's Paola Garrido.

After falling to Georgia State's No. 33-ranked doubles team on Friday (Feb. 21), Apostu partnered with
Jana Hueckinghaus to record an 8-6 victory over Georgia Southern's Paolo Garrido and Mary Phillips Smith on Saturday (Feb. 22).

Apostu, who collected her fourth career A-Sun Conference Player of the Week award, has posted an overall dual-match record of 6-1, including a 5-0 mark at No. 2 singles. She has won six straight matches, including the last five in straight sets.

Apostu is the second consecutive Owl to be named conference player of the week, following
Virginie Stein who received the honor last week.

Kennesaw State, currently 4-3 on the season, returns to action this weekend when it travels to Troy, Ala. for a pair of matches. The Owls will play at Troy on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. (ET) before taking on Arkansas State in a neutral-site contest on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. (ET).
